DUE TO AN INCREASE IN THE COST OF STUDENT KITS FROM EVERGREEN SAFETY COUNCIL OUR PRICES FOR BOTH LOCAL AND "AT DISTANCE" HAVE INCREASED FOR 2019
With the growing need of "Oversize Loads" being transported and moved over our interstate highways and local roads, it is becoming more crucial for the industry of Pilot Escort Vehicle Operators(P/EVO) to be well trained and legally certified. This duty extends to a clear knowledge in the process of maintaining the safety of the motoring public and security and integrity of the load itself. A clear understanding of the highway system, its restrictions and potential hazards are paramount in serving the trucking industry as well as private property and public when a Oversize Load is operating in their area of travel.
Certified P/EVO's can take pride in knowing that they have the proper knowledge and training to help guide and navigate through roadway areas that include highways, county roads, bridges, cities and other obstructions uncommon to large loads and their dimensions.
Pilot/Escort Vehicle Operator (P/EVO)
The training standards for P/EVO certification and the Evergreen Safety Council program comply with guidelines established by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and the Washington State Patrol (WSP). The training focuses on state regulations, procedures, safety practices, and operator responsibilities.
To receive certification:
•Complete a one-day (approximately eight hours) training course.
•Complete an open-book examination and achieve a minimum score of 80%.
•Payment in full must be received
A successful candidate will receive a WSDOT P/EVO certification card that is valid for three years. The certification card may have a passport-size picture attached and can be laminated. Otherwise, a driver’s license must be shown if asked for verification of identification.
Note: Those with a Washington State driver’s license must have the Washington certification.
Requirements for Performing as a P/EVO
•You must be 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license from any of the 50 U.S. states.
•You must be able to read and speak English.
•You must be able to perform flagging duties and traffic control.
•You must be drug and alcohol free when performing P/E vehicle duties.
•You must carry minimum liability insurance as required by Washington State.

Pilot/Escort Vehicle Operator Recertification

At this time Class "A" Pilot will no longer be offering a 4-hour Re-Certification option due to the amount of information, rules, and regulations that change over a course of a three year period. The full 8-hour class will still be offered and we welcome all "current" Pilots to attend these classes.
We have found that the possibility of sharing personal experiences while preforming the duties of a P/EVO is a valuable addition for the people who are new to the industry.
Class "A" Pilot Escort will travel to areas of the Northwest and parts of Canada upon request to provide on-site training and certification to groups and businesses requiring a more centralized location for their organizations. These arrangements are based on an individual class-by-class arrangement and may incur an extra nominal fee for travel requirements. Normally a minimum of ten students will be required for this service. Please call for rates.
